Maintenance platforms, access stairs and walkways serving rooftop and internal plant across a food manufacturing facility, fabricated as a repeat-run package.
A commercial builder needed safe maintenance access to fourteen separate plant items across a food manufacturing facility. Internal platforms had to suit a washdown environment, rooftop platforms had to sit on the existing purlin structure without new penetrations, and the whole package had to be installed in a four-week window before the tenant commissioned the line.
We grouped the fourteen locations into four platform types and jigged each type, which brought the unit cost down and made the on-site install predictable. Internal platforms were fabricated in grade 316 stainless with an open-mesh floor for washdown, and rooftop platforms used adjustable purlin-clamp feet so no new roof penetrations were required. All four types were prototyped and inspected by the builder before the full run was released to fabrication.
All fourteen locations were installed inside the four-week window. The purlin-clamp approach avoided roof penetrations and the associated waterproofing warranty issue, which was the builder's main concern at tender.
Industrial and manufacturing fabrication — plant platforms, access walkways, mezzanines and heavy security gates.

The purlin-clamp detail is what won them the job. Every other fabricator wanted to penetrate the roof, which would have put our waterproofing warranty at risk. Fourteen platforms in, four weeks, no penetrations.
